Halloween costumes don’t always need to be scary or expensive. Some of the best carefree costumes are made from things you already have at home. Looking like a child on Halloween is one of those examples, and creating your own whimsical child-like outfit is incredibly easy.
Part 1
Step 1: Find the Right Outfit.

Find the right outfit. Most children's clothing looks like miniature versions of adult clothing, so you need to find an outfit that resembles a child's clothing. Footie pajamas are one of the best options. If you don’t have the time or patience to create your own costume, or if you can’t afford a ready-made one, you can always wear adult pajamas that look like they’re meant for kids. For example, you can buy an Elmo pajama or a My Little Pony nightgown.
Step 2: Go Out in Your Chosen Pajamas.

Go out in your chosen pajamas. The best kind are footie pajamas (sometimes called blanket pajamas with feet or simply blanket pajamas), but any pajamas will make an adult look like a child.
Step 3: Accessorize Your Costume.

Accessorize your costume. If you just wander around in children’s pajamas, some people may not remember you the way you’d like. Add a few other child-like items to complete the ensemble:
- Wear a bib and bring a bottle with you.
- Carry a blanket and a stuffed bear all night.
- Hang a pacifier on a ribbon around your neck.
Step 4: Style Your Hair Like a Child.

Style your hair like a child. Babies usually don’t have much hair, but there are several ways to make your hairstyle fit the costume. The simplest option is to wear a hat, which you can also make yourself.
- For women: braid your hair into pigtails. For a truly child-like look, place them high and to the sides of your head, resembling Pippi Longstocking. For an even more child-like appearance, tie bows into the pigtails.
- For men: If you don’t want to wear a hat or another child-like headpiece, use a bit of gel to slick your hair down the middle.
Step 5: Apply Some Blush to Your Cheeks.

Apply some blush to your cheeks. Of course, babies usually aren’t made up, but they typically have rosy cheeks. Apply bright pink blush, smile, and lightly blend it on the round parts of your cheeks.
Step 6: Act Like a Child!

Act like a child! If you really want to be a baby, find your inner child. You can traditionally yell "goo-goo-gah-gah," which sounds like crying when you don’t get what you want, or smile as if you have no idea what’s going on; the possibilities are endless.
