Want to take part in a staring contest? These tips will lead you to victory.
Part 1
Step 1. Set the Rules.

Set the rules. Some rules state that the contest ends as soon as someone blinks, looks away, or laughs. Other rules may prevent making funny faces or waving hands in front of your opponent's eyes. To avoid disputes later, agree on the specific rules with your opponent before starting.
Step 2. Moisturize Your Eyes Before the Contest.

Moisturize your eyes before the contest begins. Blink well and tightly close your eyes right before the contest starts. If you can, yawn to produce a few tears. If it's within the rules, use eye drops. All these things will help prevent dryness and itching during the contest.
Step 3. Relax.

Relax. If possible, sit or stand in a comfortable position. Don’t strain your eyes or focus too hard on the person in front of you.
Step 4. Allow Yourself to Think About Something.

Allow yourself to think about something. Most people tend to stare blankly when they are deep in thought. Think of a topic that interests you greatly and direct all your mental energy towards it.
Step 5. If Your Eyes Feel Dry, Angle Them.

If you feel dryness in your eyes, angle them slightly. When you feel you can’t withstand the dryness any longer and need to blink, slightly angle your eyes. This will help to moisten them a bit.
Step 6. Try to Make Your Opponent Laugh.

Try to make your opponent laugh. If the contest rules state that laughing or looking away leads to defeat, try to get your opponent to do just that. Make funny faces, angle your eyes, or open your eyelids wide.
- If your opponent tries to make you laugh, think of something very sad or serious. Or, acknowledge in your mind that what’s happening is quite funny, but you’re not going to laugh.
Step 7. Practice in Front of a Mirror (Optional).

Practice in front of a mirror (optional). If you keep losing at staring contests, practice staring without blinking in the bathroom mirror, and time how long you can last without blinking.
