Working with spray paints can lead to paint getting on your skin. In such situations, many resort to chemical solvents, which can cause severe irritation and even damage the skin. It's best to use what's available around you. There are safe and effective methods for removing paint without aggressive chemicals. For instance, vegetable oil can be a great helper. Apply it to the stained area and then rinse it off.

Removing Paint with Vegetable Oil

Step 1. Apply Oil to the Stained Skin

Step 1

Take olive oil or any other vegetable oil and generously apply it to the stained skin. Hold your hands over the sink and rub the oil in, paying attention to areas where paint remains. Turn on the water and continue rubbing your hands under the running water. If the paint still doesn't come off, add a little soap and keep going.

  • If paint has gotten onto other parts of your body, it's best to clean up in the shower to avoid contaminating surfaces.

Step 2. Use Essential Oil

Step 2

Instead of vegetable oil, you can use essential oils, which can also help remove paint. Apply a few drops to the stained areas of your skin and rub until the spots diminish. Continue until the paint is completely gone.

  • Be careful not to let the oil get into your eyes, as it may cause a burning sensation.

Step 3. Use Cooking Spray

Step 3

Spray cooking spray on the areas where the paint remains. After that, gently rub the skin and then wash your hands to remove any residue.

Step 4. Use Dish Soap

Step 4

After treating with vegetable oil, use dish soap, which effectively removes grease. Lather it on your skin and scrub well to clean off the paint residue.

Step 5. Rinse Off the Lather

Step 5

Once you've applied the lather, turn on the water and thoroughly rinse it off your skin. Pat your hands dry with a towel.

  • If paint is on more than just your hands, it's best to do all the cleaning in the shower.

Step 6. Repeat the Process if Necessary

Step 6

If paint remains after the first attempt, repeat the process. Check your skin after washing. If traces are still visible, reapply the oil and repeat the cleaning with dish soap.

Step 2. Apply the Mixture to Stained Areas

Step 2

  • If paint has gotten onto your nails, try removing it with an old toothbrush.
