In this article, you will discover how to quickly and easily type an inverted question mark on your computer or mobile device (smartphone, tablet).
On Windows
Step 1. Open the Start Menu

Click the Windows logo in the corner of your screen to open the Start Menu.
Step 2. Search for Character Map

Type "character map" in the search bar. This will initiate the search for the program you need.
Step 3. Select Character Map

Click on "Character Map". You will see its icon at the top of the Start Menu. This will open the appropriate utility.
Step 4. Enable Advanced View

Check the box for "Advanced view". This option is located in the lower left corner of the window to open additional settings.
Step 5. Click on the Search Field

Click on the "Search" text box located at the bottom of the window.
Step 6. Type "inverted" in the Field

Enter the word "inverted" correctly in the text field.
Step 7. Click the Find Button

Press the "Find" button located to the right of the text field. A list of symbols will appear on the screen.
Step 8. Select ¿

Select the symbol ¿, which will be the second from the left at the top of the window.
Step 9. Click Select

Click on "Select" and then on "Copy". These buttons are located in the lower right corner of the window. The inverted question mark is now saved to your clipboard.
Step 10. Go to the Desired Location for Pasting

Navigate to where you want to paste the symbol. Open a document or click on the text field to place the cursor.
Step 11. Paste the Inverted Question Mark

To paste the inverted question mark, press the Ctrl+V key combination. You can also right-click and select "Paste".
Step 12. Use the Keyboard Shortcut

To type the inverted question mark, hold down the Alt+Ctrl+⇧ Shift keys and press the ? key.
- Make sure to hold ⇧ Shift along with Alt and Ctrl.
On Mac OS X
Step 1. Click in the Insertion Area

Select the location where you want to insert the symbol. Open an application, document, or website, and then click on the text field where the symbol will be displayed.
Step 2. Open the Edit Menu

Click on "Edit" in the top menu of your screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Select Emoji & Symbols

In the opened menu, select "Emoji & Symbols". This will open the Character Viewer.
Step 4. Expand the Character Viewer

Click the "Expand" button in the upper right corner of the Character Viewer.
Step 5. Select the Punctuation Tab

Go to the "Punctuation" tab located at the bottom left of the window.
Step 6. Double Click on ¿

Double-click on the symbol ¿, which is located at the top of the Character Viewer. The inverted question mark will appear in the text field.
Step 7. Use the Keyboard Shortcut

To insert the inverted question mark, hold down ⌥ Option+⇧ Shift and press ? (make sure the cursor is in the text field).
- If you press all three keys at the same time, the division symbol will be entered.
On iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Tap in the Insertion Area

Select the location where you want to insert the symbol. Open an app and tap the text field to bring up the on-screen keyboard.
Step 2. Switch to Numbers

Tap the 123 button in the bottom left corner of the keyboard. This will switch it to the number-symbol mode.
Step 3. Find the Question Mark

Look at the bottom row of buttons and find the familiar question mark.
Step 4. Hold the ? Key

Press and hold the ? key. This will bring up a pop-up menu with the inverted question mark.
- Make sure not to press the button too hard, or the "3D Touch" function will activate instead of the menu.
Step 5. Select ¿

In the pop-up menu, move your finger to the inverted question mark to select it.
Step 6. Remove Your Finger from the Screen

Lift your finger off the screen, and the inverted question mark will appear in the text field.
On Android Device
Step 1. Tap in the Insertion Area

Select the location where you want to insert the symbol. Open the desired app and tap the text field to open the keyboard.
Step 2. Switch to Numbers

Tap the ?123 or ?1☺ button in the bottom left corner of the keyboard to switch to number-symbol mode.
Step 3. Find the Question Mark

Step 4. Hold the ? Key

Press and hold the ? key to open a pop-up menu.
Step 5. Select ¿

Select the inverted question mark ¿ from the pop-up menu by sliding your finger up.
Step 6. Release Your Finger

Release your finger, and the inverted question mark will appear in the selected text field.
