To prevent the possibility of the safe being carried away, you can anchor it to the floor. This requires securing the safe to a wooden or concrete surface.

Step 1. Choose a location for your safe.
Select a spot for your safe that is hidden from view but still convenient for access, so you can quickly reach its contents in an emergency.
Step 2. Open the safe and locate the mounting hole.
Open the safe and find the mounting hole. Most fireproof safes have a single hole in the center, while others may have one or several holes in the corners.
Step 3. Use a marker to mark the spot on the floor.
Step 4. Move the safe aside.
Shift the safe to the side. If there's a carpet underneath, carefully cut a circle in the carpet to match the diameter of the bolt and mounting hole.
Step 5. Drill a hole in the floor.
Drill a hole in the floor using a drill bit suitable for your type of flooring. For concrete, you need a concrete drill bit; for wood, a wood drill bit.
- Ensure the drill bit is the right size. Typically, a 1-inch (2.54 cm) bit is suitable for wooden floors. For concrete floors, select a drill bit size that matches the bolt that comes with the safe. If in doubt, take the bolt with you to the store and ask for assistance from the staff.
Step 6. Clean up the dust after drilling.
Vacuum up any dust left from drilling. Be sure to clean the area around the hole to ensure there is no debris.
Step 7. Return the safe to its place.
Place the safe back so that the mounting hole aligns with the hole in the floor.
Step 8. Insert the bolt through the base of the safe into the hole.
Insert the bolt into the hole; you may need to tap it with a hammer 2-3 times for a better fit.
Step 9. Secure the nut onto the bolt using pliers.
Tighten the nut onto the bolt with pliers. This will help secure the bolt and firmly attach the safe to the floor. Keep tightening until the nut is snug and cannot be turned further.
